The National Sea Rescue Institute is a countrywide non-profit organisation dedicated to helping people in distress whether at sea or on inland water. These brave men and women, who all work on a voluntary basis, have saved over 1500 lives since the NSRI came into being in 1967 and over thirteen thousand people have been assisted in operations carried out by them. The NSRI runs on corporate sponsorships as well as through a number of fund raising activities. They have a shop in the Waterfront and all funds raised here are for the benefit of the NSRI. Items in the shop include t-shirts, caps, ties and a number of small gifting items like keyrings.
