Peter Hoven was born in Kroonstad, (Orange Free State, South Africa) and finished his high school diploma in George at High School Outeniqua, after which he registered for B.Ing Chem. at Potchefstroom University for Higher Christian Education ( now known as Northwest University ). By always having had a passionate love for music, this was inevitably what he was going to do for a living.
He started his musical career when he formed an acoustic duo with Gerald Clark ( Delta Blue ) called Clark & Van der Hoven in January 2006. His vocals capture the essence of melodic soulfulness with a rhythmic acoustic guitar following suit. He has shared stages with the likes of Albert Frost and Southern Gypsy Queen to mention a few. In 2007, Peter Hoven was invited to perform with a renowned American blues/folk artist Brian Kramer at the annual Aardklop Arts Festival hosted in Potchefstroom. Hoven produced an Eric Clapton Tribute recently that shows great promise to be performed in theatres around the country in the near future. Since then he has been working on his first solo album and will certainly be something to look out for!
Peter Hoven’s music has a soft yet edgy flavour to it and can be appreciated by any music lover.
