The Madeira Folk Dancing Group of Cape Town was founded by Mr. Antonio martins in 1958, and is the only representative of the Portuguese Community for the Western Cape. The uniforms worn by the dancers as well as the music and songs are originally from the 18th century and have not been changed since. The Madeira Folk Dancing Group is made up of women and children of all ages (the youngest being 8 years of age) and they proudly encourage the Portuguese culture!
