<div class="ExternalClassFD68717D5A204E0C864C2CAA6AE57E78"><p>The V&A Waterfront is regularly at the forefront of sustainability, and was recognised for its leadership role in this regard when it collected two Lilizela Awards on Thursday, 12 September at the Tshwane Events Centre.<br></p><div><br> </div><div>The Lilizela Awards aims to encourage and motivate industry and business to offer the best sustainable services, facilities and products. The Awards also offer businesses an opportunity to promote themselves both locally and internationally.</div><div><br> </div><div>The two accolades add to the Waterfront’s growing list of accolades which include an Eskom ETA Award in the commercial category, recognising energy efficient initiatives, a Gold Heritage Award and the 2012 Energy Efficiency Forum award for Commercial Buildings. Recently, the No 1 and No 2 Silo Buildings respectively won a six-star Green Star rating and a four-star Green Star rating award.</div><div><br> </div><div>Over the past three years the Waterfront has generated approximately 13,000 tonnes of waste, achieving a remarkable recycling recovery of 43% by July 2012.  Currently, the company averages a saving of 40% every month but aims to raise this figure to 50% within the next six months. </div><div><br> </div><div>As part of their ongoing effort to promote green initiatives, the Waterfront will also be celebrating ‘Recycling Day’ at the Amphitheatre on Saturday 21 September.  An interactive theatre production entitled ‘Go Green or go Home’ will entertain and educate the audience as Mr Green and his ‘Eco-babes’ show what families can do to help save the planet. </div><div><br> </div><div>The entire family can join in and, by participating in pop quizzes and ‘Go Green’ challenges, could be in line to win V&A Waterfront vouchers and prizes from T-bag Design, Heart @ Work and Beauty of Africa accessories. All the sponsored prizes are from retailers inside the Red and Blue Shed craft markets which use recycled materials to manufacture their products. </div><div><br> </div><div>The 30-minute shows take place at 12pm, 1pm and 3pm.</div></div>2013-09-11T22:00:00Z
