<div class="ExternalClass8E2D27AB036040C4A294118D55D0EC5B"><p>​</p><div class="ExternalClassCFA67FD2DE22497F9AF51F0156EB4E80"><p>​As part of the ongoing World Design Capital projects, the Rock Girl and Shine Centre have partnered up to create Book Hoeks. The mini libraries which are installed onto public benches around the city, aims to encourage literacy and promote a love of reading. </p><p>From the 15 May, benches with Book Hoeks will be placed at the V&A Kids Ahoy Playground, near the outdoor Amphitheatre. </p><p>The Bookery and Grassroot Soccer will restock the Book Hoeks with a new book each week, using a specially designed bicycle.  </p><p>The Shine Centre is a literacy project tackling the challenges facing South African education and Rock Girl is a grassroots movement to inspire, encourage, and invest in women and girls. Both these organisations champion for the need for safe spaces that foster resilience and encourage creativity and learning.  </p></div></div><img alt="" src="/sites/waterfrontcontent/News%20Images/Boek_Hoek.jpg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" />2014-05-15T22:00:00Z
