The Winter holidays may present a challenge to keep the children entertained when it's cold and wet outside. But youngsters won't be bored at the V&A Waterfront indoor Artjamming and 'paintertainment' sessions taking place in the Centre Court from 1 July to 13 July. Children between the ages of 5 and 14 will be able to enjoy the hourly sessions at the Artjammers paint and play area from 11am to 6pm daily.

With painting, sponging and spraying on the menu, things are bound to get a little messy, so aprons will be provided but Sunday-best clothing is not recommended. Professional Artjamming facilitators will be on hand to supervise and assist children while their parents can enjoy a peaceful coffee break.

Parents can pre-register online to secure a preferred time slot, though this allocation will be limited to 15 participants per session with the rest of the space being held for walk-in participants. There will be a 15 minute grace period for pre-registered participants, after which their slot will be conceded. A maximum of 24 children will be accommodated per session.

Each session costs R60 and includes an A4 canvas, an easel to work from and a wide assortment of paints, brushes and tools with which to create a great work of art. Youngsters will also be presented with an Artjamming badge as a reminder of their of a fun day out.

2014-06-16T22:00:00Z
